DREXEL, MO — The Drexel R-IV School District Board of Education named Gary French the district’s next superintendent.
French currently serves as a K-12 principal in the Drexel R-IV School District. With over 40 years of experience in education, he has implemented a variety of initiatives, including 1:1 technology and a special education life skills program. Additionally, French has overseen the passage of two school bond issues throughout his administrative career and currently serves as chair of the Miami County Hospital Board of Directors in Kansas.
French holds a master’s degree in educational administration from Fort Hays State University. Before joining Drexel, he served 13 years as superintendent of the Osawatomie School District #367 in Kansas.
"I am honored to serve as the next superintendent of the Drexel R-IV School District," said French. "Serving the Drexel community and school over the past five years has been extremely rewarding, and I look forward to working collaboratively with staff and families to provide our students with the necessary tools to succeed.”
Board members worked with the Missouri School Board Association to conduct the search.
French will officially begin serving the Drexel R-IV School District effective July 1, 2024.
